CAMINO PRIMITIVO

The Group

Due to a scarcity of places that can accommodate groups we will only take 8 people in the Group.

Getting to the start
Trains:  trains run from Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia or León to Uviéu/Oviedo. You will find all details at Renfe.

By bus:  The bus station of Uviéu/Oviedo is at Calle Pepe Comen, a central location close to the railway station. You can call +34 902 499 949 for more details. There are coaches arriving from different places in Spain with Alsa.

Fly:  The closest airport to Uviéu/Oviedo is the Aeropuerto de Asturias, located in Castrillón, 47 kilometres away from the city. Airlines such as Iberia, Iberia Express, Air Europa, Air Nostrum, EasyJet, Evelop, TAP Portugal, Volotea and Vueling Airlines operate from this airport. There are regular buses from the airport to the city operated by Alsa.

The Walk
This is a more strenuous route than the Camino Frances and although we have reduced the daily stages (sometimes by half) there are many up and down hills as you cross the mountains of Asturias.  We will walk for 16 days from Oviedo to Lugo.  Daily stages will be ± 15 km per day.  For much of the route the trail shadows the road and there are fairly regular buses between towns and taxis.  (If you need to take a bus or taxi it will be for your own cost.)

Taxi shuttle
On approximately 8 stages we will shuttle the group from the 15km mark back to (or forward to) an overnight accommodation.  The following day the taxi will return the group to that place so that you can continue walking.  This is included in the package cost.

Accommodation
Private rooms in hotels, pensions and Casa Rural. Only a few single rooms will be available. Once these have been reserved, sharing will be in twin rooms.
Meals
Some places may offer Dinner, Bed and Breakfast.  Lunches are for your own cost

Let us know if you would like an extra night.
If you would like to continue your walk to Santiago, you could cntinue walking for 2 days to Melide or get a bus to Sarria and walk the last 5 days to Santiago.
Or you could join our Camino Ingles. We will shuttle you to Ferrol so that you can walk this ancient route  to Santiago (9 days).
