"Complete your Camino"  walking the sections you missed the first time.
For people who have walked the 22-day Camino and would like to walk the two sections they missed, or people who skipped the Meseta and would like to walk it in order to complete their Camino.

11 MAY 2018:  Logrono to Sarria (and/or Finisterre)

When we planned the three stages of the amaWalkers Camino back in 2009 we had to find a way of walking from St Jean to Santiago in 22 days.  We wanted pilgrims to experience the best sections in the beginning, the middle and the end of the Camino Frances. By doing that we had to leave out sections between Logroño and Astorga, and the challenging hike over the Cebreiro mountain, that we really loved.

Many pilgrims skip the meseta, mainly because it is flat and doesn’t have the same scenic grandeur of the mountains.
We personally love it!  It is our Zen-Zone and is full of history, legend and mystery.  In spring everything is green and the wildflowers are spectacular.  (And we are hoping that those who walk it will love it too!)

We will offer a 365 km walk starting in May 2018 which covers the sections not walked on our 22-day Camino walks, with an option to continue to Finisterre.

We start our walk in Logroño - accessible via Madrid or Bilbao by bus and train.  For those arriving on the late afternoon train, we offer an optional extra night the day before.
The first day is a short one to Navarrete, then Najera and Santo Domingo de la Calzada (St John of the Causeway, famous for building roads and bridges to help pilgrims on their way to Santiago)  where we will see the famous chickens in the church.  (www.english.catedralsantodomingo.es/santo_domingo.html)
We'll walk to Belorado, San Juan de Ortega and Burgos.  From Burgos we will be taken to Santo Domingo de Silos where the Benedictine monks made Gregorian chant famous. After a night in Santo Domingo we will be taken back to Burgos.  We walk the meseta from Burgos to Leon staying at Castrojeriz,       passing the enigmatic ruins of the San Anton Convent on the way. We will stay in Hornillos del Camino, Carrion de los Condes and Terradillos del los Templarios passing Sahagun, once the seat of the most powerful Benedictine monastery in Spain.  We will also stay at Hospital d'Orbigo, Mansilla de las Muras and on to Astorga.  We will get a bus to Villafranca del Bierzo and walk over the Cebreiro mountain to Sarria.  There is a night train from Sarria to Madrid or you could extend your walk.

There is an option to continue from Santiago to The End of the World

Hired taxis will take you to Santiago where you will spend a night.  The following day you'll start your 87 km  to Finisiterre. This is a lovely 4-day walk to the Atlantic Ocean, followed by people before Christendom to the 'End of the World' as it was known in Pagan times. You will earn the 'Fisterana' certificate.

What will it cost?

May 2018:  From €1 495

We are able to keep costs down due  to accommodation based on shared double rooms in small hotels, pensions, B&Bs and inns.  A limited number of single rooms can be booked but if the group is large, these might have to be in a different establishment.   Please note - some hotels charge per room, not per person, so a single occupancy in double rooms can cost between 40% and 100% more than two people sharing double rooms and single rooms up to 25% more. Therefore, we have to charge a single supplement of €350 for a single room. (Includes a taxi from Sarria to Santiago)
Luggage transfers:  ± €5 per bag per stage on the Camino Frances and €3 per stage to Finisterre.

May:  11th May - Meet in Logrono - arrive in Santiago on 1st June:
Option:  2 June Walk to Finisterre

4 day/5 night walk to Finisterre:  €345  (Excludes taxi back to Santiago)
Luggage Transfers: ± €3 per stage X 4 = €12

Taxi from Finisterre to Santiago at the end of the walk will be about €25

What is included?
All accommodation is provided in small hotels, inns, rural houses and apartments.  If you would like to try the traditional dormitory accommodation in pilgrim shelters along the way we can make suggestions.  Single rooms can be booked but if the group is large, we might have to split the group and book rooms in a different establishment.  In Spain, many places have en suite bathrooms in double rooms while single rooms share a bathroom so if you want a single room with ensuite bathroom every night you will have to pay for single occupancy in a double room.  In one or two villages we stay in an apartment where bathrooms are shared by the group.

Land arrangements from the time we meet in Logroño are included, such as the bus from Astorga to Villafranca del Bierzo and taxi from Sarria to Santiago.

After final payment, we will email all the information you’ll need for your walking holiday.  You'll receive some items at the orientation on day one:

* A full itinerary of your holiday.
* Schedules for all three walking sections.
* Luggage labels for those booking the luggage transfers
*  A Credencial - Pilgrim's Passport - will be given to you at the start of the walk as well as an amaWalkers booklet
* Michelin Guide Map
*  If required, we will send you information and supporting documents to apply for a Schengen Visa.

What’s not included:

Flights and airport taxes
Transport to the start
Cost of Visas
Personal items
Luggage transfer costs unless paid for upfront
Medical expenses
